Craig Lebamoff is a Managing Director at Straife specializing in human trafficking, customs enforcement, border security, and mass migration planning, with particular expertise in leveraging U.S. State Department funding resources for foreign governments.
Previously, he served as a senior attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). He also held immigration officer roles at U.S. Embassies in Iraq and El Salvador, the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and worked as an asylum officer in Chicago and Laredo/Nuevo Laredo.
As a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, Craig was posted to Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Nepal, and Washington, D.C., including service as acting chief of the Consular Section in Russia. He contributed to drafting the U.S. State Department’s Trafficking in Persons and International Religious Freedom reports for Afghanistan, Nepal, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and advised the Afghan Interior Minister on border security, human rights law, and transnational crime.
In the private sector, Craig has advised on immigration, customs, and human trafficking matters. His advisory work has included customs issues for Tata/Range Rover, forced labor compliance for the Pacific fishing industry, migrant detention strategies for Morocco, and mass migration planning for the United Arab Emirates.
Craig holds a bachelor’s degree from The Citadel and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University. He served as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and is a recipient of the Director’s Heritage Award, the NATO Medal, and the Southwest Asian Defense Medal.
